Please note – checks for monetary donations must be made out to Kellogg Middle School and noted which teacher or fund it is intended for.   Thank you.

 

** Side Bar.   Many teachers request new electric pencil sharpeners throughout the year.  With over 120 kids visiting their classrooms nearly every day, these get a lot of use!  Rumor has it the sharpeners which work on colored pencils last longer!  If you would like to contribute TOWARDS a heavy duty pencil sharpener – please send a check made out to Kellogg with designation for a specific teacher’s pencil sharpener fund.

 

Erica Ellersick-Young & Kellogg Staff – VALOR:  The staff will be running monthly VALOR competitions amongst classrooms and does not have budget for prizes!  Has your student talked to you about the greatness of VALOR?  (Vision, Achievement, Leadership, Originality and Respect!)   Needed are donations of gift cards, class prizes, volunteers to bring in donuts and/or cash donations to help make the new VALOR program a success within the school.   Please designate all donations with VALOR if you can find it within the bounds of your heart to donate to this great fund.  This will be an ongoing wish throughout the year!  OR - donate $$ with a designation "VALOR" and we will purchase group prizes for you.

 

Mitch Entler and Debbie Johnson – English:   The 7th grade English teachers are in need of 100  84 copies of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.   Gently used copies are acceptable and any quantity from one to 100 that single families can donate would be fabulous.   NOTE:  This is an immediate wish as this will be early Fall reading in conjunction with the Shorecrest Fall Play of the same work.   Thank you to Jill Brady &v Rose Hawley for donating Outsiders books! 

Amber Fischer – Math:  Ms. Fischer would like to give a shout out for: a QUIET new Electric Pencil Sharpeners, (one which would diminish the amount of time students are taking in class sharpening their pencils over and over again!) Low Odor Expo Markers, Erasers for white boards, 3 ring notebooks (notepads) - especially grid paper ones, bold colored printer paper and pencils.

 

Lori Henry and Bill Murray – PE:  The Physical Education Department would love the following:   12 Sixe #5 soccer balls, 12 jr. size footballs, 10 empty big, blue, plastic five gallon water jugs.  (Donations in any quantity on these item swill help!)  and a new or used Schinn Air-Dyne Stationery Bike.  Also, the girls locker room always needs maxi pads and the boys locker room needs deodorant for emergency use. 

 

Jessica Pickert – Drug and Alcohol Counseling/Family Advocate:  Extra Funds to be used for students and families that might have a need not addressed by other services in the area such as:  more scholarship funds for school activities, gift card to get groceries or clothes (if they are not finding what they need at The Works), supplies for a class that have not been donated, bus tickets for emergencies, etc. Gift Cards – $10-30 gift cards to Fred Meyer to donate to families in emergency situations or who have just moved to the area with no household possessions.  Snacks -   For students who run out of lunch money and don’t want to tell anyone or who are from home situations in which there is not much food around the house. Ms. Pickert frequently is dealing with hungry students who could benefit greatly from healthy snacks such as granola or fruit bars would be helpful.  These snacks will also be used in the Concerned Others Group (children/family members of alcoholics and addicts).

  

Heather Murphy – School Psychologist:  Bags of individually wrapped candy to use as rewards and incentives for students who visit her office or work with her after school hours.
 

 Scott Kelly – Art:  Cow skull or moose or other large animal for still life set up, Old instruments and manikins for still life set up, lamps that attach to tables, old t shirts for kids that can't bring one in during our silk screening lesson and aprons.

 

 Erica Young (Ellersick) – Reading Specialist:  Books!!!Please help us find books for levels K through 8th for distribution to intervention classes) Also in need of pencils and reward candy.  Thank you to Valentina Visscher for our first big donation to the book need and to Jill Brady for all 200 pencils!

 

Alec Wilmart – Band :   A call is put out to the Kellogg community for willing persons to help sort and organize Mr. Wilmart’s music library.  Regular time slots or sporadic help – whatever you can spare.  Know a Shoreline/LFP resident who is not a parent but would like to donate time to help the music program?  This would be a great fit for them as well!   Please contact Mr. Wilmart via email at alec.wilmart@shorelineschools.org.

 

Liz Hebgen – Librarian Extraordinaire:  Big, fat, black  magic markers!

 

CarolAnne Rozelle – Science:  Colored pencils for use in exciting science project work!

 

 Anne Marie Culver – Science:  Help in recapturing the school garden from the weeds. Organize a group of worker bees on a weekend or come up during the day when she can send some student helpers out to work with you. 

 

Nathan Courtney – Social Studies:  Electric Pencil Sharpener.  (Please see side bar at top of page)

  

8th Grade English:  8th grade would love any donations of new or gently used copies of Toning the Sweep by Angela Johnson or My Brother Sam is Dead by James Collier.

  
Erin Stewart – STRIDE:  The Kellogg STRIDE Program has just been generously gifted a Personal Laminating Machine.  This year, there are several students who require reinforced materials for academic tasks, scheduling, and communication.  Many STRIDE students use laminated picture cards to communicate and to follow the classroom schedule and rules.  The staff is continuously creating these materials on the fly to teach structure and behavior regulation skills for individual student.  These students with significant needs in the classroom greatly benefit from the staff’s ability to quickly produce individualized materials.  Donations to assist in the purchase of laminating paper throughout the year will be extremely helpful in allowing us to assist our Stride students. (Much appreciation to the Saunders and Brady families for getting this process started!)
 
Molly Forry – 7th Grade Counselor :  Donations to help cover class fees (science, art, band and jazz band) and P.E. uniforms for students in need of scholarship funds.   Jill Brady – your cash donation for these funds is very much appreciated!

 

Maira Rusis – Espanol:   La Profesora would appreciate wooden skewers, colorful yarn, floral tape, floral sticks (with wire attached), colored markers, glue sticks and tacky glue for cultural projects, and young adult reading books for her Silent Reading class anda new electric pencil sharpener to replace the current one operating on "life support" right now.  Sincere thanks to Zane Smith and family for the donation of the “Rolls Royce” of pencil sharpeners and to Jill Brady for the silent reading books and pencil sharpener! 

 

Sheena Good – Homework Lunch Supervisor:  Homework lunch is in desperate need of two new electric pencil sharpeners (see side note at top of page).  Ms. Good is hoping to use one for colored pencils and one for regular pencils to keep them running longer.
